Julii Cory Cat
Julii Cory
Julii Cory Catfish (
Corydoras julii) is among the most popular of the numerous known species within the
Corydoras genus, and this is because of its stunning white and black markings. The body is speckled with black markings on a white or light-colored body, that provide absolutely stunning contrast, especially with its orange pectoral fins. Much like its cousin, the
Peppered Cory (C
orydoras paleatus), this catfish exhibits very interesting and often playful behavior. It is fairly small (they grow to a maximum of about 2-1/2 inches), so it is ideal for the home aquarium and likes to be in groups of 6 or more. These are a Cory species that can be kept in cooler water. (68f-80f)
Environment for Julii Cory
Native to the River Salinas in Valenzuela, South America, the Juli Cory is a peaceful fish that enjoys dark, soft bottom aquariums with smooth rocks or sand. They prefer water temperatures from 68f to 80f and a PH from 6.5 to 7.4. They would do well in a well-filtered 10-gallon, but a 20-gallon or larger is preferred. These fish have sensitive barbells or whiskers and one should have the proper substrate for them. To keep their barbels (whiskers) in the best condition, fine sand or smooth gravel should be used as the substrate.
Feeding Julii Cory
Corydoras are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods. Good Quality sinking food like
Dr. Bassleer Biofish Food or
Northfin Kelp wafers is a great choice. Most high-quality sinking food will be fine. They will also eat fresh vegetables like cucumber or zucchini.
