This species of tetra is found in the South American river system in Argentina, southeastern Brazil, and Paraguay.Ā The scientific name is Hyphessobrycon anisitsi .Ā Buenos Aires Tetras are a very peaceful tetra perfect for a community fish tank, They should be kept in groups of 6 or more. Tank Requirements
These freshwater aquarium tetras will max out in size around 1.5-2 inches and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. They can be kept in a tank as small as a 10-gallon aquarium. In a bigger tank, a larger school is preferred and quite mesmerizing to watch. These fish are very hardy adapting to a wide array of water parameters, including a PH of 5.5 to 7.6 and temps from 72f-82f. These fish are tank-raised and quite adaptable to most water chemistry.
Feeding
These Tetras are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods. Good Quality food like Dr. Bassleer Biofish Food, either pellets or flake is a great choice. Most high-quality food will be fine. At Michael's Fish Room, we only feed Dr. Bassleer pellet or flake food or live baby brine shrimp. These fish are bold and have been seen taking food from larger fish, but are not aggressive.
