What to do if your Power goes out?

Have you ever thought about what to do if your power goes out and you have fish tanks? If not……

The first thing is DON’T PANIC!

I know that may be hard especially if you are not experienced. The truth is, most fish in the wild do not live in pristine conditions and frequently face adverse conditions!

Now, what should you do? The first thing you should do is try to retain as much heat as you can in the tank. Wrap the tank in towels or blankets. If the tank is in a room with a door, keep the door closed.

Make sure your filter media stays wet, the Beneficial Bacteria will stay alive for a few days with food and there should be plenty in the filter.

The second thing is DON’T PANIC!

If your power outages last a long time (more than 24 hours), you should be prepared with a battery or USB air pump.

I like these:

Fish are over all pretty hardy and I wouldn’t worry if the power goes out for less than a day.
