Shipping policy

Most orders will fit in one box, a $25 standard shipping or a $60 expedited shipping, both using either UPS or USPS. This includes a heat pack if required. If your order is more than I feel will comfortably fit into a box, I will contact you about additional options. I ship on Mondays or Wednesdays only. This ensures the fish will arrive before the weekend and limits the time they are out of my hands or yours. While the USPS and UPS have been very good with my shipments, things can happen.

Michael’s Fish Room recommends the “Plop and Drop” method of acclimation, but ultimately it is you the owner and caregiver to acclimate in the way you feel is best.

Live Arrival Guarantee only applies to express shipping:

  • I cannot guarantee the live arrival of packages that are not received on time due to carrier delay, whether it is due to weather conditions or failure to pick up or receive fish within two hours of arrival. We will, however, do our best to resolve any problems or questions you may have.
  • It is our goal to help you keep your fish alive and healthy. “Live arrival” is defined as follows: upon opening the box and inspecting your new arrivals, the fish are all swimming and appear to be in good order. In other words, they are not floating upside down dead. In the unlikely event that a DOA (dead on arrival) occurs, we MUST be sent clear photos of the dead fish 1) in the unopened bag and 2) outside of the bag within 2 hours of the first delivery attempt. Upon receiving both photos within the required time frame, a credit may be issued, excluding shipping costs. We do not refund the cash value of the fish or the cost of shipping. In the event of total loss (80% or more) a credit for the total order cost may be credited to the next order. (Excluding Shipping)
